Boost Your Soybean Performance With JumpStart

The value of using JumpStart on your soybeans is four-fold:

1. JumpStart helps your soybean crop get off to an early start which is especially important when planting into cooler soils typically found when reduced tillage practices are being used.

2. JumpStart helps your soybean crop develop a large root system that helps the crop better withstand stresses caused by drought, insects and disease. Better drought tolerance helps reduce shriveled and wrinkled seed and maintains higher protein content. A larger root system also helps your soybean crop explore a greater volume of soil which means more efficient use of all nutrients in the soil.

3. JumpStart enhances the amount of nitrogen fixed by ensuring your soybean crop has access to the phosphate it needs. Good phosphate nutrition results in more nodules being formed and more active nitrogen fixation.

4. JumpStart helps you overcome the limitations of banding and/or broadcasting phosphate fertilizer necessary due to the seed sensitivity of your soybean crop. By working in the root zone, JumpStart helps your soybeans access soil phosphate until the roots can grow to the fertilizer band or to the incorporated phosphate that was broadcast. Once the roots have reached the applied fertilizer, JumpStart continues to increase the amount that is available for uptake by the crop throughout the root zone.

5. For soybean farmers who prefer to use JumpStart with their liquid bradyrhizobia inoculant, JumpStart can be easily mixed and applied to soybean seed at the same time. Check the JumpStart extended label, for further information on applying JumpStart with liquid bradyrhizobia inoculants.

Phosphate is solubilized (or made available) by JumpStart colonized soybean roots. The photo shows soybean root sections taken from JumpStart treated soybean seed. The root sections are then placed in a calcium rich media (pink gel material) that contains bound phosphate. The greenish/grey growth around the root sections is the growing JumpStart soil-fungus. The clearing of the pink color from around the root sections shows that JumpStart is solubilizing the bound phosphate in the immediate area around the root.
