Wheat was the first crop to receive registration for JumpStart. Since that time, we have gathered information from 159 split-field farmer done trials on wheat that prove the economic advantage of JumpStart.

Better Stand Establishment

JumpStart, the phosphate inoculant, is an easy way to provide optimum phosphate fertility for improved emergence and stand establishment.

The active ingredient in JumpStart is a naturally occurring soil fungus discovered by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. It grows on plant roots and makes less available forms of residual soil phosphate immediately available for crop use. This results in better use of phosphate for quick emergence, vigorous growth, and better stand establishment – to set up yield potential.

JumpStart on Winter Wheat

When it comes to a successful winter cereal crop, the beginning determines the end. Without good stand establishment in the fall, winter survival suffers and yields decline. Winter survival of cereals is strongly dependent on obtaining quick emergence and vigorous growth in the fall.

For the best winter survival, winter cereals must germinate uniformly in the fall and develop at least two to three leaves and crown tissue. Then, in the spring re-growth occurs from the crown tissue. Better stand establishment in the fall means a more vigorous crop in the spring.

JumpStart has been proven to increase root growth by up to 30% greater compared to more phosphate fertilizer. Quicker emergence and early plant vigour are known benefits of JumpStart.

JumpStart is sold as a wettable powder that is mixed into water and applied to the seed prior to seeding.
